The-new-PoloTech-shirt-feature-860x450_cTJC NEWSPAPER - Aug 23 - The PoloTech, made in partnership with OMSignal, has a unique "second-skin" fabric composition, and the sensors in the fabric stream information directly to an iPhone, iWatch or iPod Touch. "The black box" that collects and processes the information uses five connectors and contains a 3D accelerometer that captures intensity of movement based on three g-force measurements. It is timed to coincide with the start of this year's U.S. Open tennis competition.

1. Personal KinetiGraph System - The FDA recently cleared the wrist-worn device that aims to assess and monitor the symptoms of movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease.
2. GetActive - A fitness tracker that measures steps taken and calories burned. Results can be synched with companion apps on Apple and Android-enabled phones.
3. OMsignal Biosensing- A line of shirts that work with a tracking module to monitor heart rate, breathing rate, breathing depth, activity intensity, steps walked, calories burned and heart rate variability.
4. OrCam - A portable device with a smart camera that clips on to eye glasses to help the visually impaired. The system can learn to recognize objects commonly used by the wearer to help in everyday activities.
5. Oxitone Watch - A wrist worn device that provides medical grade data on pulse oximetry, heart rate, and respiratory rate. Smart Clothing R&D Going Strong

Cityzen sciences tshirtGNOM - May 26 - OMsignal is taking pre-orders on its fitness smartshirt for $80, plus $120 for the accompanying module. The company admits the prices are going to have to come way down for widespread appeal. Cityzen Sciences is developing T-shirts that have microsensors embedded in the fabric to monitor a person’s temperature, heart rate and location. DARPA is researching smart clothing for soldiers. A number of other firms across the globe are developing a wide variety of smart clothing.

Smart Jacket Lights Up To Motivate Runners

Glowfaster jacketAFP - Mar 4 - A new jacket designed for running that lights up in accordance to speed and heart rate has recently started a Kickstarter campaign. The jacket is controlled by Glowfaster, an app that works via Bluetooth and allows the user to choose settings and make adjustments based on biofeedback. The idea is that users respond "naturally" to the jacket's light, resulting in "intuitive motivation" that helps the body adapt as the workout continues. The jacket is comparable to OMsignal shirt that adopts to the body's shape. The shirt contributes to better blood circulation and performance, and helps muscles recover faster. It also tracks heart rate, breathing and movement. Another example is Move, a sensorized garment that tracks body movements in real time through a smartphone app.
