Kopin’s Heads-up Solos Glasses

Kopin solosDIGITAL TRENDS - Sep 15 - Solos was designed for cycling and engineered with “intuitiveness” and ergonomics in mind, including some wind tunnel-testing to cut down on drag on the road. It’s made of lightweight polycarbonate, has anti-slip temple and nose pads, and packs interchangeable, adjustable lenses that Kopin says “minimize strain on the eye” during longer cycling sessions.

Kopin To Supply Near Eye Displays For Wearables

Kopin logoSEEKING ALPHA – July 27 – Kopin Corporation has developed its CyberDisplay optical engine with a focus on the wearables market, particularly for headset displays. The technology uses LED back light utilizing waveguide technology to achieve high brightness with low power consumption. Multiple optics are available to match the wearable application, including pupil, pearl, and prism. Kopin has an estimated 80% share of the global micro-display market.

Kopin Launches Pupil Micro-Display

Smart glasses variousTELEGRAM - June 15 - Kopin has launched its Pupil micro-displays, taking aim at the smart glass market. The displays range from 0.2” to 1.5” diagonally, and are small enough to be discretely mounted on the inside of the glasses frame. Kopin has long produced LCD displays for military headsets and weapons, though sales have declined to $8.3M in 2013, down from $19.7M in 2012. At the same time, commercial sales increase from $11M to $13M. According to IHS Global Insights, the global wearables market will reach $30B by 2018.

Kopin Posts 4th Straight Quarterly Loss

Kopin logoPHOTONICS – May 8 – Display optics firm Kopin, has posted its fourth straight quarter of net losses due to rising development costs in wearables. Net loss for Q4 2014 was $9.1M. R&D expenses for Q1 2014 were $5.1M. Kopin projects 2014 revenues of $18-22M and net loss of $32-40M.
