Broadcom Rolls Out New Wearables Navigation Chip

Broadcom logoSOCALTECH - Sep 14 - The new Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) chip is aimed at IoT, and helps figure out position, velocity, and time on chip, freeing up microcontrollers from those tasks--saving power and processing cycles for other things. Broadcom said the new Broadcom BCM47748 dramatically lowers costs for manufacturers--potentially eliminating the need for an MCU--and supports both GPS and GLONASS and accelerator inputs.

Avago To Buy Broadcom For $37B

Broadcom logoTHE WALL STREET JOURNAL - May 28 - Avago will pay $17B in cash and about $20B of its own shares. Broadcom investors can choose to receive $54.50 a share in cash or about 0.44 shares in a newly formed Singapore holding company, among other options. They will own about 32% of the combined company.

Broadcom's New Platform To Extend Wearable Battery Life
