Honeywell Aerospace is developing its own variant of Google Glass with a hands-free device that allows flights attendant to manage virtually the entire cabin with just a few words here and there.
The Flight Display Systems ‘wrist watch style’ cabin control device will allow the wearer to view speed, altitude and ETA, and depending on the cabin management system, it can control lights, audio/video and more. It will also permit the flight attendant to communicate with passengers.
The Garmin D2 Pilot Watch comes with a high-sensitivity WAAS GPS receiver, altimeter with adjustable barometer setting and 3-axis compass, and allows users to access ‘Direct-to’ and ‘Nearest’ routing with a simple push of a button, provide a view of the route on a moving map display.
