SLASH GEAR – July 30 – NVIDIA has developed a process to create budget high-resolution wearables displays by sandwiching several cheap LCDs together. NVIDIA took two 7-inch, 1280 x 800 LCDs and stripped the backlight from one of them, putting it on top of the second with a quarter-pixel offset, using software to to create quadruple the resolution. There is a slight reduction in brightness as a drawback. The Tegra K1 chipset can power the screen, delivering high-resolution at a much lower price than an Ultra HD screen.
