GNOM - May 26 - OMsignal is taking pre-orders on its fitness smartshirt for $80, plus $120 for the accompanying module. The company admits the prices are going to have to come way down for widespread appeal. Cityzen Sciences is developing T-shirts that have microsensors embedded in the fabric to monitor a person’s temperature, heart rate and location. DARPA is researching smart clothing for soldiers. A number of other firms across the globe are developing a wide variety of smart clothing.
