FORBES - Apr 30 - CEO Gabe Grifoni of Rufus Labs believes that his wrist device could be the answer to better human interaction.
Q: Why did you start Rufus Labs and create the Rufus Cuff?
A: I look at my 1985 Casio calculator watch and I can barely touch those little rubber numbers with my fingers without hitting three at once. It’s the same on a smartwatch with a small screen. A big part of doing it right means:
- A usable screen
- Better battery life
- Better app ecosystem
Q: Why do you consider your product a cuff versus a watch?
A: Our device is more of a cuff form factor than a watch. Some of the features are:
- It will connect to your smartphone via bluetooth allowing you to make and receive calls.
- You’ll be able to access Siri or Google.
- You can use voice commands to send texts, emails, post to FB, get directions, etc.
- Wifi
- Water resistant
- Built in Bluetooth allows the Rufus Cuff to connect to smart home devices
- Fitness tracking
- Vibrating alerts and LEDs
- Longer battery life
Q: Where do you see the wearables market headed?
A: When the right wearable ecosystem is in place, it will replace everything in your pockets.
Q: As watched and bands start to take off more, will the phone market slump?
A: Yes and from the innovation standpoint, there’s not much you can do other than add cool features like 3D.
